Disney Series: Belle inspired eye look

I am a huge fan of all things Disney and I love to try and incorporate it into my life through home decor, clothing, nail polish and of course my makeup! I try and subtlety have Disney in my everyday life without being considered the "crazy Disney obsessed 21 year old" :P I find myself inspired by all of the incredible characters and beautiful animation in the Disney films, especially the Disney princesses. My favourite princess is Belle from Beauty and the Beast. She is so intelligent and independent and seems to be one of if not the only princess who saves the prince. To do this makeup tutorial I tried to pull together the gold from her dress and the brown and bronze tons from the Beast. I also really wanted to try and bring in a reddish burgundy shade that always reminds me of the enchanted rose. I think that with this look you could make it less dramatic for an everyday look by leaving out the glitter and liner. I love how this look came out and I hope any of you disney fans out there do too :)
This is the completed look. I will include a picture with the lip shade I decided to include as well. .
I am experimenting with lighting to try and show the entire look. I really wanted to showcase the glitter with this shot.
I took this shot with my iPad, the camera on my phone was unable to capture the lighting correctly to have the eye look and the lip colour as the focus. I also think this picture shows the real burgundy and bronze combination that was created. In real life the intensity of the colours is much closer to this picture. I had very little face makeup on in this picture, I wasn't going to include the lips but I thought that the lip colour was just too pretty to leave out.
These are the shadows I used:
-Maybelline colour tattoo in the shade Bold Gold as a base
- MAC eyeshadow in shade Retrospeck on lid
- wet'n wild Vanity palette gold shade mixed with Retrospeck
- MAC eyeshadow in Cranberry through the crease
- wet'n wild Vanity palette bronze shade in outer corner and mixed through outer half of crease with Cranberry
- highlight inner corner with any shimmer shade, I used the one in the wet'n wild palette
These are the glitters that I used for the lower lash line. These are from the company Lit cosmetics in the shades "Hot Chocolate" and "Beach Baby". I used their clear liquid and fine tipped brush to apply them.
These are the liners and lip products I used to complete the look.
-Essence super fine liquid liner
-Rimmel scandal eyes nude liner for inner rim
- Mary Kay lipstick in shade "inspiration"
- Beautifully Disney lip gloss in shade "A Rose is a Rose"

So that is one of my Disney inspired looks. I can't wait to create more now that I have finished my school semester. I hope you enjoyed it!

Favourite drugstore mascara

I have already made a post about my all time favourite mascara but I wanted to pay tribute to my drugstore and current favourite. I have tried countless tubes of different mascaras from the drugstore across all of the brands. Through this I have discovered what I love and look for in a mascara, so I usually am able to predict my feelings on a newly released one. I prefer a rubber brush that is not too skinny and not too big with a formula that is highly pigmented and somewhat liquidy( basically not dry and not wet enough to build clumps). I usually apply at least 2 coats and I like my lashes to be full and separated, I'm not a fan of the "spider lashes" look.

Anyways I have found that the Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara fits all of the qualities I look for in a mascara. I know that there are tons of reviews out there on the Internet of this mascara but I wanted to express my thoughts on it as well :) the majority vote of the reviews I have seen claim this mascara to be one of the best that Covergirl has released.
I have tried all of Covergirl's "lash blast" mascaras as well as the one that is designed to enhance a specific eye colour. This one is by far my absolute favourite!
I love the curved brush! When I was doubting that this mascara really was so much different and better then the lash blast fusion and original volume, I bought both and put them to the test against the clump crusher.  This brush and the formation of its bristles really do make a huge difference!
One day I will post a picture of my lashes without mascara, but until then I thought I would include a couple of pictures of this mascara in action.
I apologize that it is slightly blurry, I am using my iPad to complete this blog post to put it up quicker. I know my right eye is creepily staring at the camera but hopefully you can ignore that.

With this picture I was hoping to show the amount of length and volume that this mascara provides. I would say they almost look like falsies. Please keep in mind that this picture was taken at the end of the day, my makeup being applied in the morning.
Anyways that pretty much sums up my thoughts on this fantastic mascara! If you are looking for a new drugstore gem, try this one! You will not be disappointed. Thanks for reading!

Colours of the Rainbow

I saw this tag topic floating around YouTube and several other makeup blogs and I thought it was so much fun. Such a different tag type video and although I wasn't tagged by anyone (I feel so new and kind of outcast) I wanted to do it anyways. From what I understood you had to search through your collection of beauty products (makeup, skin care, hair products etc.) and find an item for each colour of the rainbow. I believe that you were also supposed to find a pink item and an item that included all of the colours of the rainbow.

RED: I had no trouble deciding what my favourite red product was going to be. The blog post before this one shows my love for the Beautifully Disney nail polishes. The red nail polish in this set called "Enchanted Kiss" is absolutely gorgeous. I usually find that "red" nail polishes are usually too pink, purple or orange. This polish is a true red.

ORANGE: This one was also super easy for me to choose. This is Hard Candy's boxed blush called "Skinny Dipping". I was skeptical about trying an orange blush but this is beautiful. I have a new found appreciation for peach and orange blushes now. I usally only wear this in the summer and spring months though, it gives you a glow that is more natural at that time.

YELLOW: This was probably the most difficult item for me to decide on. I was searching through my makeup and beauty product collection, but absolutley nothing was yellow or even had a yellow package. I wandered over to my body sprays and perfume collection (I don't even have a nail polish that is yellow!) and my eyes went straight to a body spray from Bath and Body works. It is called "Wild Citrus Sunflower" and smells so good! A real summer scent. I am not the greatest at describing scents but I would describe it as a citrus mix of oranges, lemons and limes with a rich note of floral (which I am assuming is the sunflower).

GREEN: This was not a difficult pick at all for me. I am constantly using this palette for multiple different looks that can be both dramatic and natural depending on the shadows you use. Although most people might be attracted to the neutral half of this palette, the green shades were what attracted me. Since I have hazel eyes I like to work greens into my eye looks and these shades are perfect! I have recently created a look using only the greens and I think it is beautiful for summer (of course you could wear them year round but I like to experiment more with colours in the summer and spring months). This is the eyeshadow palette from Wet 'n Wild called "Comfort Zone". I apologize for the dark lighting in this picture.

BLUE: This pick was not difficult either for me. I love the colour blue and its many shades so much whether it is in clothes, nail polish and of course makeup. For summer I know a trend seems to be adding blue and teal subtly into your eye makeup by lining your lower lashline. This is a trend that I personally LOVE. I use the brighter blues for the summer and spring months but I have also done this trend with the darker blues in the winter. On the left of the picture is a single shadow from Yaby cosmetics and the palette on the right is the Wet 'n Wild palette in "Sparkle 'til Morning".

INDIGO:  Next to the yellow pick, this was very difficult to pick. I'm not sure if there is a clear definition of what indigo is but I like to think of it as a mix between violet and dark blue. I really wanted to include products that I truly love in this post so instead of picking an indigo eyeshadow just to have the colour included, I picked a product that has indigo packaging (slight cheating?). I picked the limited edition MAC blush/highlight powder from the "Hey Sailor!" collection called "Crew". I use this powder as a blush since I am so fair skinned but I am sure that deeper skintones could also use this as a beautiful highlight. This powder is perfect for days when you have a more dramatic eye look and don't want to use a bright or deep blush.

VIOLET:  I knew exactly what I wanted to choose for violet. This eyeshadow palette is absolutely beautiful! I think that this particular palette is discontinued from Wet 'n Wild but the colours are definitely easy to find in other brands. I use the matte shades on the left side of the palette to create such a pretty purple look that is both daytime and nighttime appropriate. This palette is called "Lust".
PINK: I know pink isn't one of the colours in the rainbow but I seem to remember some girls adding in pink to their choices so I did too! I chose a lip combination that I like to wear when I am going for a more natural look or when I want the focus to be on my eye makeup. I am not the most daring when it comes to lip colours so these products are a definite must have for me. This is the Maybelline Colour Whisper lipstick in "Lust for Blush" and the NYX Megashine lip gloss in "Candy Shop".
RAINBOW COLOURS: The last product of the tag was to try and find a product that you love that has most if not all, the colours of the rainbow. My answer might not be the most original and I vaguely remember many other beauty enthusiasts having the same answer as I do for this. This is the "Artistik cosmetics 88 eyeshadow palette". This is a very generic palette that most companies that sell brushes and makeup for artists come out with. There is pretty much every colour in the rainbow in this palette as well as some neutrals. I use this palette when I am doing holiday or costume makeup looks. I reach for this when I see an eye makeup look that uses bright colours or a colour that I don't have in the rest of my collection.

I hope you enjoyed this post. It was so much fun to look through my collection and find all of these beautiful colours. If you need an idea for a blog post I really recommend this tag. Just so much fun! Have a great day.

Makeup I am taking to Disneyland

So I am off to Disneyland in 5 days and I have already started thinking about what I am going to be packing. I always like to start my packing a few days in advance so I can make sure that I never forget anything and so far it has worked! Anyways I thought that some people might be interested in what I will be taking along with me for the Californian climate. Enjoy!

Face:
From left to right
-Primer: "Smashbox Photo Finish": This primer really helps my makeup stay put all day. This is the only face primer that I have tried that has held my foundation in place for at least 10 hours. So helpful for a day at the park!
-Revlon Colourstay Foundation: My favourite drugstore foundation! Great full coverage and really lasts throughout my day!
-Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation: I also love this foundation's lasting power. The shade is a bit too dark for me but I find that mixing it together with the Revlon Colourstay makes a great shade match for me.
-MAC Fix Plus facial mist: I love this product for making my foundation looking fresh. I am also planning on bringing this product to the park with me to use as a refreshing mist throughout the day.
-Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder- This is my absolute favourite powder for setting my makeup and it really does help my face stay matte longer.
-Essence Silky Touch Blush in "Adorable": This shade of blush is my favourite for a natural flush of colour. It is just a soft pinky peach shade that will match any eye look. This is the only cheek colour I will be taking with me.

Eyes:
From left to right
-Maybelline Colour Tattoo in "Bad to the Bronze": This cream shadow is so easy to just swipe across the lid,add some mascara and get out to the park. It stays place all day and is such a pretty colour!
-NYX HD eye shadow primer: I use this primer both for my eyes and as a foundation primer in my fine lines. This primer is great for keeping your shadows looking fresh and staying put all day.
-elf eye shadow primer: This primer is only $1! I personally think it is just as good as my higher end eye primers for keeping my shadows in place all day.
-Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion mascara: I love all of the Covergirl rubber brush mascaras and this is just the one I am trying out right now. I love this one just as much as the others for both volume and length.
-Wet N Wild eyeshadow trio in "Walking on Eggshells": This is such a great neutral palette and so easy to use. This is really a "fool proof" combo of shades and any combination will work. Another "quick and easy" eye look.
-MAC single eyeshadow in "Brule": This is my go-to shadow to use as a highlight and blur any harsh lines of my other shadows. I use this pretty much every day as my highlight shade because it is super close to my natural skin tone and seems to just polish any look I create.
In general: When thinking about what eye makeup to pack, I wanted to bring lots of fun colours and products to play with because its Disneyland, but I had to bring myself back to reality. I needed products that are easy to work with and will look great with minimal effort. I also tried to choose products that if they were damaged in my travels or my luggage was lost, I could easily replace them and not be too upset.

Lips:
From left to right:
-elf lip balm spf 15 in "Pink": This lip balm on top of the spf, gives your lips a bit of colour. I have had this product forever and I never seem to use it but it seems perfect for this trip. It is a small size so can fit in a pocket and is perfect for touch ups.
-MAC suntints spf 20 liquid lip balm in "Lilt of Lily": This liquid balm has a higher spf and gives your lips a sheer wash of light pink. It has more of a glossy finish and will be in my pocket as well for touch ups.
-EOS lip balm in "lemon drop": This lip balm is just a plain old lip balm with an spf of (I think) 15 or 20. I love this formula and I find it more moisturizing than a lot of the other EOS balms.

And last, of course I will be taking my Disney lip glosses! See my earlier blog post for my feelings on these glosses. The colours from left to right are "Mysterious Mermaid" and "Enchanted Slumber". I am bringing these mainly because they are from Disney and I will be sure to report back and post if I actually did wear them.

As you can probably tell from this post, I was going for "quick and easy" makeup. I don't want to be spending much time in the mornings on my makeup, I just want to get to the park! I unfortunately do not have confidence to go without makeup so I tried to come up with something that would give me the coverage I want, stay place all day and not take over an hour. I hope you enjoyed this post! Have a great day!

Wickedly Beautiful by Beautifully Disney

Disney has created their very own makeup line called "Beautifully Disney". I can honestly say that when I found out I was so excited that I immediately was searching the internet trying to get my hands on it. My two favourite things had collided and I almost couldn't believe it was true. Since I don't live anywhere near California or Florida I made my order off of the disney parks website (http://www.disneystore.com/disney-parks-product/accessories/beauty/mn/1001081+1007301/). The shipping was reasonable and the package arrived much quicker than I expected. The items were packed so carefully in a way too big box. I appreciate it though when companies do this because it feels like they really want me to recieve my items in perfect condition. In case you were curious I found out about the Beautifully Disney line through the Disney blog.

Onto the products! In this collection called "Wickedly Beautiful", the theme was the princesses and their nemesis. They included the classic princesses (the first princesses to someone who is a younger disney fan) and the evil doer who did them wrong in their story. Included was Snow White and the Evil Queen, Cinderella and Lady Tremaine, Aurora(Sleeping Beauty) and Maleficent and last but not least Ariel and Ursula. There were 2 eyeshadow quads, one that was themed princess and one that was themed evil, 8 lipglosses eached themed to their own character and 8 nail polishes that were also themed to a character.
When I first saw the products, I fell in love with the wide range of colours and the beautiful packaging. I had to have them! I was most attracted to the lip glosses and nail polishes.Unfortunately, only the nail polishes are availble in mini sets of 4 on the website, but you are able to order over the phone and through email if you would like to purchase a full size of a polish from the park (find this information on the blog). I thought the eyeshadow quads were beautiful but the colours were not quite unique enough for me to want them... I had to convince myself of this so I wouldn't just buy them because they were disney. I have so much eyeshadow as it is so I had to resist the temptation. However I think the eyeshadow quads would be great for anyone looking for versatile palettes that can be used to create multiple looks.
So I purchased 2 lip glosses and the mini set of the princess nail polishes.
Lip Glosses(from left to right): Mysterious Mermaid, Enchanted Slumber

I purchased these particular shades because I thought the "Mysterious Mermaid" was the most wearable, natural look for my lips and skin tone, and I picked the "Enchanted Slumber" gloss because princess Aurora has always been one of my favourite princesses. These glosses have good pigmentation and have an average lasting time on your lips. My only complaint about these glosses (that some people might actually appreciate) is that they aren't very sticky. I agree with most people when they say that MAC glosses can be a bit too sticky and therefore uncomfortable, but that doesn't mean that I want my gloss to feel like I am putting water on my lips. I feel like without the sticky quality that most glosses have, these glosses don't stay on my lips as long as they could. If they were only a bit more sticky, these would be my favourite lip glosses ever!
"Mysterious Mermaid" and "Enchanted Slumber"

There were 2 sets of mini nail polishes available online. I bought the princess set mainly for the green shade called "Ocean Mist". I am so glad that I was able to try the other shades though. These nail polishes are absolutely amazing!
From left to right: Ocean Mist, Off to the Ball, Looking for my Prince,Enchanted Kiss

I hope that soon they have the full size bottles available online. I love these polishes so much and the colours are so beautiful. They dry incredibly fast and you could get away with applying only one coat if you wanted to with all of the colours except the light blue shade "off to the ball". I found that the polish starts to chip on day 2 of wear. I find this to average for my nail polishes. I don't know if it is maybe the top coat I use or how much I work with my hands but I was not surprised to see small chips forming on the second day of having the polish on my nails. I really don't mind the chipping since these polishes are so easy to reapply and dry so incredibly fast. I would also like to include that this was by far the quickest manicure I have ever done!

Ocean Mist (2 coats)

Looking for my Prince (2 coats)

Enchanted Kiss (2 coats)

Off to the Ball (3 coats to set it apart from the white paper)

Overall I would definetley reccomend these products to anyone interested. I found these products performed amazingly and I think they are great for those who are fans of Disney and makeup. I had high expectations for these products because they carry the Disney name and I was not disappointed. Disney did it again!

Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara

I usually don't purchase many products from the Mary Kay line. I received a sample of this mascara from my mom(who doesn't wear makeup) who had received it as a gift with purchase when she bought her skin care. I didn't have great expectations for this mascara based on my previous experience with other Mary Kay cosmetics. However, the first time I used it I fell in love and have since repurchased it. I usually prefer to purchase mascara from the drugstore because I really believe that they are just as good as higher end mascaras and are definetly a better price for a student like myself. Like most mascaras this one is better once it has been opened and used for about 2 weeks. Then this mascara really shines!
This is a rubber brush mascara (what I usually gravitate towards) and has many bristles with a variety of both short and long. I find that the formula is not too wet or too dry and doesn't seem to clump my lashes together. My usual problems with mascaras are that my lashes seem to clump together or the mascara leaves blobs of mascara on my lashes. I would say that I have many lashes with a decent amount of length. I would not say that I have long lashes and I would not say that I have extremely thick lashes, I feel like I am somewhere in between.
Although this picture is a little out of focus, I think it shows the detail of the mascara brush. There are so many bristles and that is why this mascara does such an excellent job of seperating the lashes. This mascara focuses more on length than volume but does add some volume. I find it also does hold the curl of the lashes pretty well, maybe not as well as a waterproof mascara but still does a good job.
Overall I really love this mascara and I keep going back to it after trying a few others and I remember just how much I love it. It does wonders for my lashes and I reccomend it to anyone who is looking for a mascara to make their lashes look natural, long and defined without any clumps.

My Best Makeup Remover!

Everyone always seems to be after the best way to remove all of their makeup. I have tried many methods, maybe not as many as some other people, but that is because I think I have found the absolute best way to do it! I have tried several different bottles of eye makeup remover, cleansers and different brands of remover wipes. Whenever I have used the wipes or cotton pads with remover, I have felt like I am pulling on my face. I kept thinking that this kind of tugging or pulling on my face can't be too good for my skin and that I might be enhancing the possibility of wrinkles and lines in my face. I went to the drugstore looking for a new makeup remover method and I came across the "Clean and Clear Makeup Dissolving Foaming Cleanser".

This remover is a foaming cleanser that claims to remove face and eye makeup including waterproof mascara. This cleanser definelty lives up to these claims! I use this to take off all of my makeup and I don't find that it breaks me out or irritates my eyes, I have had this problem with other products in the past and I find my skin and eyes are usually quite sensitive.

This picture shows one pump of the cleanser. I find that I usually use 5-6 pumps of the cleanser to completely remove all of my makeup. To give you an idea of what my usual makeup routine includes, I wear a full coverage foundation, setting powder, blush and usually full eye makeup that includes eyeliner. When I am having a more light makeup day, I usually only need 3-4 pumps to remove all of the makeup on my face.
To use this cleanser, you wet your face (including your eyes) and pump the cleanser into your hand. Massage the cleanser around your entire face including your eyelids and gently on your eyelashes. Rinse your face thoroughly and pat dry.
After I remove my makeup I use my face cleanser on a cleansing mitt. Whenever I am rinsing off my mitt, I never notice any face makeup residue on it. I think that this proves that the makeup remover really does a great job!
One time a friend of mine was spending the night at my house and she had forgotten her face wash and makeup remover. She asked to borrow mine and when she came out of the bathroom from washing her face she said that it was the best makeup remover she has ever used!

I have been using this cleanser for at least the last 4 years and have gone through too many bottles to count. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quick, easy way to remove all of their makeup in one step!
